We are a tailor-made travel/trekking company, (we can offer Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, and many more trip) and the number of participants does not limit our operations.
If your trip has been canceled by your operator and you're under last-minute stress, remember to find us to sort out your travel decisions. Please do not hesitate to book your stress free holidays with us. Our trips are 100% guaranteed to run unless there are uncontrollable circumstances such as political riots, natural disasters, epidemics, pandemics or weather disasters.

Who are my trek Guide?

You will be guided by our experienced trek leaders who have been to the base camp and back many times over the years. All our guides are locals who communicate well in English and have a deep knowledge of the mountains, people, culture, health, hygiene and most importantly your safety.

Will I need crampons for this trek?

Generally, crampons are not required for this trek if you are trekking in season. But if you want to trek in mid-winter or monsoon season, crampons are essential. You never really know what conditions you will encounter on the trekking trail until you get there, so it is better to keep your crampons and use them if needed.

Does caffeine help with altitude sickness while hiking?

Caffeine can contribute to altitude sickness as it can trigger dehydration causing altitude sickness. Caffeine, in contrast, is known to stimulate your brain, kidneys and breathing, all of which are useful at high altitude. Drinking caffeinated drinks for a long time and stopping suddenly during the trek can cause severe headaches.

Food on the Annapurna Circuit Trek

This trek takes you to high altitudes near the world's highest peaks, so you need adequate carbohydrates, proteins, and other nutrients. We'll provide you with nutritious food, but you may not have all the options you enjoy in big cities.

We will provide 9 breakfasts, 8 lunches, and 8 dinners during the trek. Some of the popular food menu items in Annapurna are:
Nine Breakfast: Oatmeal, corn flakes, jam, butter, cheese, French toast with honey Tibetan bread or chapati, local tsampa porridge, eggs, pancakes, muesli bread, fruits and vegetables, hot drinks (various types of tea and coffee, hot chocolates, etc.)

Eight Dinners: lentils, rice and vegetables, Tibetan bread, various soups, Sherpa stew, steak, sandwiches, momos (dumplings), macaroni, tenduk spaghetti, noodle soup, pasta, vegetable curry, potato stuffing, vegetable and salad pizza, mushrooms (mixed), snacks (papad, shrimp), Korean ramen, dessert items (rice pudding, apple pie), hard drinks, steaks, etc.

In Trek regions, menu item options include traditional, Asian, and Western cuisines. However, the menu list will get shorter as we move up.

We recommend you drink fresh fluids at high altitude, such as green tea, lemon tea, hot lemon, ginger tea, and garlic soup (of course).
Although many non-vegetarian items are available in trekking areas, we do not recommend them, as meat in such places may not be hygienic. We also encourage avoiding dairy items along with alcoholic beverages, caffeinated items, and hot chocolate.

Note: Lunch and dinner will not be provided by the company in Pokhara. All personal bills—alcoholic drinks, hot (tea, coffee, etc.), and cold drinks—are excluded from the package except for standard meals (breakfast, lunch, meals with seasonal fruits) at tea houses, lodges, or cafes.

The best season for the Annapurna Circuit Trek

Weather is the most important factor to consider while deciding to go on the Annapurna Circuit Trek Tour. Although the Annapurna Circuit trek is possible throughout the year, it is easier in certain seasons.

During spring and autumn, the sky is crystal clear, which makes trekking easier and allows you to enjoy great landscape views.
During the winter, the trek becomes a bit challenging due to heavy snowfall and cold temperatures, but it also excites the most adventurous trekkers. Similarly, during the monsoons, the trails can be slippery, and clouds can obscure the view.

Mountain Magic Treks conducts Annapurna Circuit treks throughout the year.

The temperature of the mountains changes according to the altitude and season. Here is an overview of the weather at high altitude on the Annapurna Circuit Trek.

March-May (Spring)

Mountain lovers and travel enthusiasts flock in large numbers to trek the Annapurna Circuit in the spring (March–May). During this season, the weather is mild, rainfall is low, and trekking conditions are perfect. The average daily temperature at higher elevations ranges between 5 and 0 degrees Celsius. The lower areas along the trail are warm, making hiking enjoyable for everyone during this season.
Trekking season starts after March. By April, trek routes across the Himalayas will be lined with red, pink, and white rhododendron flowers at altitudes of up to 3,000 meters.

From mid-March to mid-May, the temperature starts to rise. The weather is cool, the sky is bright, and you can enjoy clear views of the mountains.
June to August (summer)
The summer in Nepal lasts from June to August. Needless to say, the temperature is high, but the monsoon season along with the heat make the trek routes cold and slippery.

The monsoon usually starts at the end of June and continues until the second week of August.
At higher altitudes, daytime temperatures typically range from 10°C to 23°C, and nights are relatively cool (5°C to 10°C). The morning is mainly clear; clouds form in the afternoon, but they disappear at night. Different plants bloom in this season, the valleys look green, and you can enjoy completely different scenery compared to other seasons.

September to November (Autumn)

Autumn (September, October, and November), like spring, is a popular season for trekking the Annapurna Circuit. Moderate temperatures, light winds, and low rainfall make autumn the ideal season for Annapurna trekking.

The sun is bright, the sky is clear, the temperature is just right for hiking, and you get a great view of the mountains.
You can enjoy the brilliant starry sky at night. The monsoon ends in early September, and daytime temperatures can reach 20°C at higher altitudes, with nights being relatively cool at around 5°C. During the monsoons, the greens fade to golden or amber, which provides a spectacular contrast against the crystal blue sky. You will see terraced farms full of cooked grains.
The environment is clean, and the plains are picturesque. Dashain and Tihar, the major festivals of Nepal, also fall during this season. It brings a sense of joy to all hikers.

December to February (Winter)

Winter (December–February) treks to the Annapurna Circuit are also popular. Annapurna Circuit trekking spots may be cold, but they excite many trekkers. Temperatures can drop as low as -10 degrees Celsius at high altitudes on the Annapurna Circuit Trek. But the daytime is pleasant and relatively warm, with ample sunshine. The coldest time is from late December to early February. After the end of February, the weather gradually warms up.

Despite the cold, the skies are generally clear, and the mountains are at their best. Snow falls at higher elevations, and the trails are less busy. Although it may not be the best trekking season for beginners, experienced trekkers will have no problem.

Weather at high altitudes is unpredictable and changes quickly.

Trip Grade: Fitness level, medical, and health

The Annapurna Circuit Trek is a challenging and optional short trek to the 14-day Annapurna Circuit.

Climbing the lowlands below 3,500m from Chame (2,710m) to Manang (3,540m) takes 6 to 8 hours per day, and the higher mountains above 3,500m, from Manang to High Camp (4,900 m), takes 4 to 6 hours per day. Trek for 3 to 4 hours, as trekking at high altitude is physically demanding.
Previous hiking experience would be an added advantage, but no technical experience is necessary.

Trekkers who can trek at a reasonable pace for 6–8 hours daily can complete this Annapurna Circuit trek. It is a rugged mountain journey, and the trek routes include long ascents, steep descents, and steep forward trails through rocky paths and forests.
It is a good idea to exercise and run regularly for a few weeks before traveling, as it increases stamina. To join the Annapurna Circuit trek, trekkers should have good physical fitness as well as a positive attitude, confidence, and strong determination.

Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases must inform us before booking the trek. You may also consider consulting your doctor.

Annapurna Circuit Group Trek | Private Single Trek | Private Family Trek

We organize group and private treks. Group discounts are available based on the size of your team. The bigger your team, the more discounts you get. Please see our price list for details. Just click—we offer group discounts to your right.

However, if Mountain Magic Treks gathers a group, you will not qualify for the trip cost discount.

We can handle any group size. Each group will have a guide, and for every two trekkers, we will assign a porter. For groups of 6 or more, we will arrange an assistant guide to make the trip successful.

A typical day on the Short Annapurna Circuit Trek Itinerary

Each day you will walk, climb, enjoy the views, take photos, and explore the local villages. During the trek, our expert Sherpa guide will share information and historical facts about the places you are going to trek. Porters will carry most of your luggage. However, you may also need to carry a small backpack for the day with your camera, water bottle, some snacks, money wallet, and passport.

The day starts in the morning with a hot cup of tea or coffee. After breakfast, we started for the day's walk from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., depending on the duration and nature of the walk. After three to four hours of walking, we will have lunch on the way to our next destination. We will rest for an hour and continue the trek every day.
Afternoon walks are usually shorter every day—about two to three hours only except on the 7th. Once we reach our overnight lodge, tea house, or tent, we have extra nutritious food and explore the town or village where we will spend the night.

We have dinner at 6.30 p.m. Before sleeping, we will spend some quality time in friendly conversation. Your trek leader or guide will inform you about the next day's plan after dinner every night.
After this briefing, you can enjoy onboard games such as Monopoly, cards, or mountaineering documentaries. Most of our guests also prefer to learn common Nepali words. If reading brings you joy, you can pack a book or two.

Communication during the trek

While on the Annapurna Circuit Short Trek, you can use the internet service at the lodges for an additional service charge. But once we reach a higher altitude, we will communicate using the phone. The Mountain Magic Treks Office will be in touch with all trek teams at least once a day through a team guide.

Depending on the network service you use, you may receive signals, but they may not be strong enough. If you want to use it, you can buy a local SIM in Kathmandu upon your arrival at the airport or in the Thamel area.

Generally, Wi-Fi works at the lodges on every part of the trek, but it will come at an additional cost.

Electricity for battery recharge, water for trekking

During the Annapurna Circuit short trek, we will stay in all lodges, and electricity for camera and mobile battery recharge is available at an extra charge.
Similarly, you can buy packed mineral water from local lodges and en route shops or fill your water bottle with boiled water. We also provide water purification pills if you need to use them while trekking.

You should not drink water from the rivers, taps, and wells in the trek regions because they may not be drinkable.

Extra personal costs during the Annapurna Circuit Short Trek

You need to arrange for meals in Kathmandu, except breakfast. All meals, transfers, and accommodations required for Annapurna Circuit short trekking are included except for the lunch and dinner in Pokhara.
Trekkers should bring personal spending money to cover visa fees, the purchase of travel insurance policies, drinks, snacks, souvenirs, tips to trek crew members, and other personal expenses.

We recommend you bring cash (in major currencies) and exchange it in Kathmandu. You can withdraw money from an ATM using your debit or credit card.

Insurance Requirements for the Annapurna Circuit Short Trek

Insurance is mandatory for the Annapurna Circuit Short Trek. There is little chance of altitude sickness or other unpredictable events like climate change.

All trekkers must provide a copy of their comprehensive travel insurance policy certificate to Mountain Magic Treks before starting the trek. The policy should cover medical and emergency repatriation, including high-altitude helicopter rescue and evacuation expenses.
We may recommend insurance companies based on our clients' experience, but we do not sell insurance policies.

Trekking members are requested to send their detailed insurance information after booking their trek. In the event of an emergency, we will use your insurance policy and the informational documents you have sent us to cover urgent rescue operations or your medical expenses.

Do not rely solely on the information provided by insurance companies on their websites. Call them and check again if they cover helicopter rescue and evacuation costs up to 6000 meters altitude, along with all medical expenses.

Visa on Arrival: Nepal Tourist Visa

All foreigners, except Indian citizens, require a valid visa to enter Nepal. You can get an on-arrival visa at the Tribhuvan International Airport or at the Nepalese border that touches India or Tibet. More information about visas can be found at www.immigration.gov.np.

To apply for a visa, you need a passport valid for at least six months, a passport-size photograph, and the visa fee. The current visa fee is USD 50 for a 30-day stay, which you must pay in cash.
Citizens of China and South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka) get a free visa.

Citizens of Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, and Afghanistan cannot obtain an on-arrival visa. So if you are a citizen of one of these countries, contact your local Nepalese embassy.

Money Exchange: USD to NPR

The Nepalese Rupee (NPR or Rs) is the local currency.

(1 USD = (approximately) Rs. 120 NPR).

You can exchange major foreign currencies through local banks and legitimate money exchanges in Kathmandu and Thamel. Legal currency exchanges display their rates publicly.

Only 100- and 2000-dollar currency notes are valid in Nepal.
We prefer cash exchange to avoid problems like lengthy processes and high bank commission rates of around four percent or more.

You can withdraw cash (in rupees only) from one of the many ATMs in Kathmandu and Thamel using your international credit or debit cards. Most of these ATMs are open 24 hours a day.

For foreign cards, the maximum withdrawal amount is Rs 35,000 for a processing fee of Rs 500.

Most Asian banks do not accept old, torn, or defaced foreign currency notes. So please bring only new, clean notes.

How much luggage can I take on the Short Annapurna Circuit Trek?

We assign one porter for every two trekkers, and the maximum combined load a porter can carry is 20 kg. So, it calculates a baggage weight limit of 10 kg per trekker. We expect you to carry a small bag for your valuables.

Bring only the essentials with you. You can leave your extra luggage at your hotel or at our office store. Mountain Magic Treks provides free luggage storage to our trekkers during their trek.
You will re-check your luggage and equipment during our trip briefing.

Travel responsibly on the Annapurna Circuit Trek.

As an eco-tour company, we are aware of the environmental consequences of our actions and do our best to protect the environment. Our policy is:

I did the Annapurna Circuit Short trek in March 2023, guided by Phurba Sherpa. Phurba was just the perfect guide for a newbie trekker like me. He helped me out with the pre-trek prep, taking me to shops to rent gear like sleeping bags- he even bargained on my behalf! Once the trek started, he was always there, making sure I was doing the right things, eating well, staying hydrated. He also took care of finding accomodation at the tea houses. I will never forget the day we crossed the Thorong La pass- 50m before reaching Thorong La, I was hit with altitude sickness. Phurba had the right medication to help me through it and carried my backpack for me till we crossed the pass. Professional, yet warm and kind, Phurba is like family. He has a great eye for a picture too!

About the trek- it's an experience to cherish forever. Beautiful landscapes, from fields to forests to snow-clad mountains to cold desert. Great variety, from ancient monasteries and temples to hot-water springs. A very rewarding journey, being with oneself, while still meeting people from all over the world. And the opportunity to experience the amazing warmth and hospitality of the Nepalese and the delightful company of my guide and trekking buddies.

My husband and I did the Annapurna Circuit Short Trek. I accepted the challenge and we succeeded. A big part of it is the support we received from Mountain Magic Treks. When we arrive in Kathmandu, we were greeted by his team and got a personal pickup from the airport. Our guide was personable, funny yet very professional the entire time. He knows the trail inside and out, he knows how to pace each day of our hike based on our strength surprisingly,. I am certain that in the future, we will come back to Nepal and no doubt, Mountain Magic Treks would be our preferred tour guide!

Great guide and great trekking!

Last August, My friend and I did a trekking through the Annapurna Circuit Short Trek. Phurba Sherpa was our guide and showed us the best places and helped us to get the most out of this experience. Since we were both inexperienced in trekkings, it was really great to have such an experienced guide, who was really friendly and personal throughout the whole adventure. However the weather conditions in August were (as expected) not too helpful for seeing the high peaks of the mountains, the extra information and experience of Mountain Magic Treks helped us to enjoy every piece of it.

Our group of four completed the short annapurna circuit trek in autumn with mountain magic, who provided a guide, transport and porters. Overall it was an amazing and beautiful experience and very well organised by the company. We would recommend Rewati and the team, and consider using again.

Some comments we had along the way we rated as very good as opposed to excellent were:
- The information provided by the guide on the trek was clear and usefull. Others have written great reviews on the guides, we also lucky to get the good and experiance guide.
- As the trek is all inclusive, the guide paid for meals and accomodation from a budget with any extras charged on top. This was a cup of tea and a dish 3 times per day. This system was slightly opaque as we were charged for any extras but didn't get a reduction if choosing light options like soup or to skip. I'd expected more flexibility on larger cups of tea, say, or would prefer to simply pay for what you have.
- Similarly to the comment on inclusive food, there was a range of accomodation availible at the various overnight stops, so worth agreeing preference in advance. The default chosen by the guide is likely to be the most basic, and you may prefer a greater level of comfort for a modest additional price.

Thanks again Rewati and team!

We did the short Annapurna circuit trek with mountain magic treks. 10 days was perfect as we were short on holiday time but wanted to get into the mountains and out of the city. The views were incredible and we had perfect weather throughout. Our guide Purna and the porters made sure everything went smoothly and we all made it successfully over the thorong la pass. It was super chilly in the evenings but that made the hot shower at the end all the more enjoyable! Would strongly recommend the trip!
